Tamra Mitchell, Ed.D., Senior Associate, National School Reform, provides on-site and virtual technical assistance to strengthen leadership, instructional practices, and curricular strategies that support schools and classrooms. She also provides evaluation services to districts and schools and manages and coordinates projects. Tammy previously served in multiple leadership capacities for the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) for nine years, where she led both the agency’s school improvement and elementary school redesign initiatives. These resulted in the redesign of more than 100 elementary schools in 75 districts over the course of five years. Tammy provided regionalized in-person and remote training to school leadership teams, principals, and superintendents throughout the state. She also served on the KSDE executive leadership team. Tammy received the Master Teacher Award from Kansas State University in 2018. She has more than fifteen years of classroom teaching experience with students from preschool through fourth grade. She has also led professional development in her work as an early literacy and instructional coach and adjunct professor of early childhood and elementary science methods.
