Shelley Nixon-Green, Ed.D., Senior Associate, Urban Education and Leadership Development, coordinates and provides intensive technical assistance to state, district, and school-based staff, parents, and other stakeholders to implement education reform initiatives. Her particular focus is on strengthening teaching, school leadership, and instructional initiatives to improve student learning. Shelley has worked in K-12 education settings for over 25 years and successfully managed large-scale school- and district-wide instructional and magnet programs throughout her career. Prior to joining CTAC, she served as district leader, principal, assistant principal, and teacher for Guilford County Schools in North Carolina. As high school principal, Shelley’s strategic initiatives significantly improved student performance. Under her leadership, the school’s graduation rate increased by 20 percent and the overall performance level rose, making it the ninth highest in the state. Her areas of expertise include program development, school turnaround, leadership development, strategic planning, and school and district improvement.
